QM1 captures the 1-minute window in which a participant reaches their deepest meditative state – the moment of highest state of practice, deep awareness, or profound inner silence.
QM3 extends this concept to a 3-minute period to assess sustained meditation depth and stability of the silent mind.
Both formats are based on the analysis of neurophysiological markers such as EEG patterns (e.g., alpha suppression, infraslow waves, reduced mind-wandering, increased attention and self-awareness) and are supported by subjective and second-person observations when applicable.
In many meditation traditions, a moment of genuine silence can be transformative. The Buddha himself attained enlightenment during a profound state of deep meditative absorption under the Bodhi tree reaching the peak state of his long practice. Practitioners often spend their entire lives searching for such fleeting yet powerful and transformative moments, where the mind becomes silent, clear, and deeply aware.
QM1 and QM3 aim to highlight and reward these moments, by capturing key moments within longer or varied sessions. By focusing on quality over quantity, we offer a fair, accessible, and scientifically grounded way to recognize peak meditative states excellence across different styles and levels of experience.
This new standard is part of our ongoing mission to bridge ancient wisdom and modern science, empowering practitioners to understand, track, and deepen their inner journey towards attaining profound states in a meaningful and quantifiable way.
